OMGPOP: Zygna Buys ‘Draw Something’ Developer

Zygna Inc has bought the makers of Draw Something.

Zygna Inc, who is responsible for popular facebook titles FarmVille and Mafia Wars, has purchased OMGPOP, who produced the popular app Draw Something.

Financial terms have not been disclosed, but reports claim Zygna forked up to $200 million for the acquisition.

In its statement, Zynga claim OMGPOP’s Draw Something has been downloaded more than 35 million times in six weeks and is the No. 1 word game in 84 countries. Currently on Android’s Play Store, it rates as the top free, top paid and top grossing gaming title.

Draw Something requires one player to draw a nominated word, while the other tries to remotely guess the word based on the drawing. News.com.au describe it as a “cross between Pictionary and Words with Friends.”

Zygna’s shares closed at $13.72, up 2.5% following the news.
