Optus First To Sell Samsung Galaxy S

Samsung announced that its new Galaxy S smartphone will be exclusively available through Optus from 1st July for $0 upfront on its $59 ‘yes’ Social plan. The Galaxy S will then be available through all major mobile phone carriers from August.

The Galaxy S features a four inch Super AMOLED screen and a 1GHz application processor. Samsung’s super-fast TouchWiz 3.0 user-interface (UI) will provide instant and easy access to applications and services and SWYPE text input allows for intuitive and fast texting and emailing.

“In addition, Samsung’s Social Hub service will facilitate constant, easy and integrated personal calendar, contacts and social networking, across sites including Facebook and Twitter. The Samsung Galaxy S eReading feature provides access to millions of content sources at your fingertips, including books, magazines and newspapers on the move. Finally, more than 50,000 applications from the Android Market will allow you to extend the benefits and functionality of Samsung’s new smartphone,” said the company.

Available for $0 upfront on the Optus’ $59 ‘yes’ Social plan, customers will enjoy unlimited Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and MySpace – as well as 1GB of data per month. It will also be available for $0 upfront for Small Medium Business (SMB) customers on the $59 ‘Business Complete’ plan on a 24 month contract (min total cost $1416) which includes unlimited voicemail and SMS for SMB customers.
