Optus To Sell Smallest Android Phone

Sony Ericsson revealed that the smallest Android phone, the Xperia X10 mini, will be available exclusive to Optus for the 2010 FIFA World Cup period.

The Xperia X10 mini offers one touch access to match scores, news, statistics, highlight clips and 500 FIFA archived video on demand clips provided by Optus. Customers can also be able to watch free live and uninterrupted streaming of every match, especially filmed for mobile and exclusive to Optus.

The Xperia X10 mini comes with Timescape, which brings together all messages, missed calls, photos, Facebook emails, SMS and Tweets in chronological order onto one screen. It also comes with an Infinite button that allows a user to be ‘transported to related content on YouTube and find out more about your favourite football anthems’.

Sony Ericsson’s Managing Director, Brendan Johnston said, “As the Official Mobile Handset of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, we are kicking off the world’s smallest Android phone-the Xperia X10 mini-in time for the world’s biggest game.”

Michael Smith, Managing Director, Optus Consumer said, “As the exclusive 2010 FIFA World Cup Mobile Broadcaster in Australia, Optus is excited to be providing live streaming of all 64 matches of the FIFA World Cup free to our customers, demonstrating our support of the game at all levels.”

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini will be available exclusively through Optus throughout the FIFA World Cup period for $0 on the ‘yes’ $49 plan (24 months). It is also available outright for $549.
