OZ Consumers & Analysts Not Impressed By New iPhone 4S

Australian consumers have slammed the overnight iPhone upgrade with some claiming that they will not replace their current model while others are describing it as “not a big step forward”.

Australian consumers have slammed the overnight iPhone upgrade with some claiming that they will not replace their current model while others are describing it as “not a big step forward”.

Analysts and observers were not impressed either with  Apple’s share price dropping 5pc as Wall Street brokers were left underwhelmed by the technology company’s launch of its new iPhone.

Many said that Apple had  failed to deliver on hopes that it would launch an iPhone 5.

Apple’s share price fell 19.25 to $356.14, having been up more than 1pc ahead of the launch, as new boss Tim Cook and other Apple executives unveiled a series of new tweaks to existing products.

Consumers in Australia said on a Fairfax Media web site “I feel let down. My Telstra contract was up last month and I’ve been waiting for the iPhone 5; there’s no way I’m going to change my iPhone 4 now for this 4S – it seems I get everything new with IOS 5. Why would I pay more for a better camera when I only use the current one to take snaps of things, or to be able to play Angry Birds a bit faster?

Prices in the US range from $199 to $399. Prices in Oz range from $799 to $999. I have an iPhone 3GS and was looking at upgrading … but not anymore. I’ll wait for the iPhone 5 and a more reasonable price range.

Good to see the iPhone has slightly caught up the Samsung Galaxy S 2.Not much of an upgrade but no doubt all the fan boys will creaming themselves and lining up for 3 day and nights to get one.

No wonder they are so worried about Samsung – what a disappointment of a product. With all the marketing hype about this one I think Apple are their own worst enemy , this release will be a huge boost for their competition.

Costs $50 or so for some poor Chinese kid to make, no wonder Apple is wealthier than the rest of the known universe combined…..

Not really the big step forward for Apple and the iPhone. Larger screen, thinner device would’ve been a winner. It’s been 18 months since the iPhone 4 was released and this update seems rather deflating.
Apple seems to have played catch-up with this phone but it already seems out-dated with some of the other Android-based phones currently on the market!
And perhaps more deserving of a front page listing in the technology section.

That being said, the Siri app looks incredible. Hope it works as well as Apple just demoed (sometimes these things work better on stage?!). Pity it’s only going to be available on the iPhone 4S. I can see some jail breaking for this feature alone.
