OZ iPhone 6 D-Day: What’s In-store?

As the world’s first iPhone 6’s hit the shelves in Australia, we get a taste of whats in store for Apple fans vying to get iPhone 6.iPhone 6 and 6 Plus go on sale tomorrow, Friday, and Aussies will be among the first places in the world to get their mitts on larger phones.

And all the main telcos are expecting big crowds with Vodafone on hand with coffee carts to keep queuers awake, while Telstra have hired Justice Crew to keep the Sydney crowd entertained.

Vodafone’s stores will be open from 7am but will giving those in line freebies at five of its biggest stores: Melbourne’s Bourke St, George St Sydney, Rundle Mall Adelaide, Queen St Mall Brisbane and Hay St Mall Perth. No iPhone will be sold until 8am, however.

Stores will be serving free coffees, lollies to all Vodafone customers who are at the store waiting to get their hands on a shiny new iPhone 6, the cheapest one costing around $900.

Telstra stores are going one better and will open stores at 8am but have hired Australia’s Got Talent winners, Justice Crew to entertain those in line outside Sydney store, with their song ‘Que Sera’ from 7.40 am. Phones will be presented to first customers by Justice Crew at Telstra store at 383 George St.

There will also be an LED light wall that will allow superfans to capture their excitement about the new phone. Queuers will be able to kick back in comfy beanbag chairs, listening to DJ-played music while sipping a coffee (free, we hope).

Optus too is opening stores, online and telesales from 8 am tomorrow although doesn’t appear to be planning any instore activities.

The telco closed pre-orders earlier this week due to limited stock, and was allowing order of iPhone 6, only.

For those who want to avoid the endless queue experience, some smart shoppers will be visiting the larger Telstra, Optus, Vodafone and Virgin Mobile stores in the suburbs, where smaller allocations of brand new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus models should be much more readily available without the ridiculously long queues.

You’ll also miss out on the free coffees and gifts but you’re likely to be already enjoying your iPhone 6 while the queuers are still queueing, so this is a pro tip for those who don’t like to wait any longer than they have to.

Apple sold 4 million iPhone /6 Plus already setting a new record for the smartphone, it confirmed this week.

And finally, all Apple stores will be open tomorrow morning at 8 am, and last we heard there was a queue forming around the block in Sydney store on George St.
