Panasonic Challenges Samsung LED Quality

At a gala event in Melbourne Panasonic has thrown down a serious challenge to Samsung with a new range of LED TV’s which incorporates, In Plane Switching (IPS) technology, which Panasonic claims delivers superior wide angle viewing, when compared with current model Samsung LED TV. This is the same technology that Apple is using in their new iPad.

During a demonstration to journalists Panasonic compared a “competitors” LED TV, which we were able to establish was a Samsung LED panel, with their new IPS LED TV, which when you walked away from the Panasonic panel to a left or right viewing angle, deliver a superior picture experience.

Images were held in focus and the colour saturation of the Panasonic offering remained bright whereas the Samsung LED started to fade the wider the angle became.
The move by Panasonic into the LED market will see them market a range of over 14 LCD and LED panels ranging in size from 22″ to 42″.
Paul Reid Director of Panasonics Consumer Electronics Group said “We will always have plasma as our offering in the over 50″ market because plasma is a superior TV technology to backlight LED or LCD. We are only now entering the LED TV market because we have a superior TV technology to offer consumers and our competitive model demonstration shows that there is a distinct difference when compared with an LED TV offering from a major competitor”.
“This technology delivers improved brightness, energy efficiency and a superior viewing experience and we are confident that we will have a lot of success with our new range as we are able to offer superior plasma technology in the over 50″ market and superior LED technology in the under 50” market said Read.
