Panasonic Unveils New Camera Range

Panasonic has previewed the latest additions to its digital camera range, all due in mid September.

The top-of-the-range model is the LUMIX DMC-L1 DSLR (RRP $3849). This camera is equipped with the first Leica lens developed specifically for a DSLR camera.

Other additions include a live MOS sensor, live view and a dust reduction system. The camera comes in a magnesium allow body, designed to look like a traditional rangefinder camera, with an aluminium allow lens section.

The interchangeable lens complies with the Four Thirds System standard.

Next in the range is the LUMIX DMC-FZ50 (RRP $1099), the successor to the popular FZ30 model. Like its predecessor, the FZ50 is also 12x zoom, however it offers 10.1 megapixel shooting.

The FZ50 comes in either silver or black.

Then there is the LUMIX DMC-LX2 (RRP $879), featuring a 16:9 wide aspect ratio CCD, 2.8-inch 16:9 LCD, optical image stabiliser and intelligent ISO control.

The DMC-LX2 sill be available in silver only and is a successor to the LX1.

Panasonic has also introduced two new models to its range of compact cameras (the LUMIX FX series). The DMC-FX50 (RRP $769) and the FX07 (RRP $659) both offer a 28mm wide angle LEICA DC lens, image stabiliser and intelligent ISO control. Both will be available in silver only.

Finally, there is the DMC-FX3, an entry-level compact camera with a retail price of $549.
