Photo experts such as Les Walkling, Philip Andrews, Darran Leal, and Shelton Muller will give hints and tips on subjects covering everything from taking better people pictures right through to landscapes and travel photography hints.

The talks will be presented in an area on the show floor known as Picture Place. The Picture Place presentation area has casual seating and a surrounding free standing area. Each illustrated session will last approximately twenty minutes and there is no need to make a booking.

According to Peter Rose, director of the Photo Marketing Association, the talks are being presented as a free service to help people take better photos.

“We might have automated most camera functions these days, but you still have to know how to frame the photo and when to press the button. These talks by our top experts will greatly help everyday picture takers improve their photography skills,” Peter Rose said.

In addition to the talks, show visitors will be able to gain inspiration by viewing the Pictures at an Exhibition gallery display. This will showcase the full spectrum of photographic endeavour – from students keen to make their mark in the worlds of professional and fine art photography; through to the extremely enthusiastic and active Australian camera club movement of dedicated amateurs; the cream of Australian professional photography; and the best of the best in international and Australian press photography.

The work of professional photographers will be represented in the form of the Australian Professional Photography Awards. In real time during the exhibition, this display changes in front of the viewers’ eyes, as the 2008 winning images are replaced by the outstanding 2009 images following the “live” judging which is also open to the public for free viewing .

Attendance is free if pre-registered or with a free pass supplied by your photo retailer.

The PMA Australia 2009 Imaging Technology Show will be open for general admission from Saturday 27th June between 2.00 to 6.00pm and on Sunday 28th June between  10.30 to 5.00pm at the Sydney Conference and Exhibition Centre at Darling Harbour.
