PS3 Misses Out On New Warner Games

Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment has unveiled three new video games, including a game based on upcoming film Speed Racer, for the Xbox 360, PS2, Wii and DS, but none for the PS3 just yet.

Warner which supports both the HD DVD and Blu-ray formats says while none of these games are designed for the PS3, it will be launching games for Sony’s next-gen console in future.

Two of the three games are Looney Tunes games aimed more at children. Looney Tunes: Acme Arsenal, which will be released on 360, PS2 and Wii, is an action-adventure game featuring seven playable Looney Tunes characters including Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck. The 360 version will also allow gamers to play two-player co-operative via Xbox Live.

“Looney Tunes: Acme Arsenal is updating the classic characters in engaging ways that will appeal to new generations of fans as well as the loyal fans of these enormously popular cartoons,” said Warner Bros IE Senior Vice President, Jason Hall.

Second in the new Looney Tunes games is Looney Tunes: Duck Amuck, which will launch next January on Nintendo DS. The goal is to irritate, aggravate and infuriate players’ own Daffy Duck in humourous ways – driving Daffy’s temperature, and his temper, through the roof. It will also feature wireless game play, allowing players to gang up on Daffy as team or battle each other.

Rounding out the range is Speed Racer, a game based on the upcoming film written and directed by (ex-Matrix) Wachowski brothers, which will be available next year on Nintendo Wii and DS alongside the film launch. It will also be released on PlayStation 2 with the DVD launch.

In the Wii and PS2 system games, players will be able to take on the role of the characters from the film, getting behind the wheels of each character’s signature vehicles in combative racing. The car-fu style of action within the game will closely represent the action style being designed by the Wachowski brothers for the film itself as they lend direction and assets to the development team directly from their Berlin set, Warner said.
