PS3 To Play Old Games

As the Sony PS3 launch approaches, more and more details are slowly being gleaned about the new entertanment machine which has been described as the most controversial new console, even for the price alone, it seems Sony is determined to prove that it is worth it.

In addition to playing Blu-ray movies and games, the PS3 will also play all your old movies, CDs and most importantly video games from the PS1 and PS2. However, thanks to a small entry on the PS3’s official site, we now know that you will also be able to transfer your save files for those games too, a feature sorely missed on the Xbox 360.

“To use saved data on a PlayStation 2 memory card, you must copy the data onto a virtual memory card within the hard disk,” the site reads. “This requires a PS2/PSone memory card adaptor to copy the data to your PS3. A memory card adaptor is designed to edit, up/download game saves to and from EMS flash card or smart media card.”
