A survey conducted on behalf of Logitech has found that 25 per cent of Australians would rather give up their toothbrush for a month than lose their remote. It has also been revealed that 31 per cent would rather forego sex for a month than being separated from the remote control.

Logitech’s Global Remote Trends Survey conducted by Wakefield Research found that more than half of Australians surveyed have four or more devices in the living room that need remote controls. The survey also said that nearly half of remote users indicated they needed to press three or more buttons just to watch a DVD.
In addition, almost one in five Australians (17 per cent) own a device, such as a DVD player or home audio system, which is connected ‘but rarely or never used due to a missing remote’. Remote controls in Australia are lost and found in a couch but have also been lost and found in the bathroom, fridge and even the car.
22 per cent of Australian households said that there is someone who does not use electronic devices simply because they don’t understand how to operate the remote, while 27 per cent have written a “Remote Control for Dummies” guide to help people use their home entertainment system.
The survey showed consumers are interested in technologies that make home entertainment simple again.
“More than 9 out of 10 Australians believe their home entertainment experience would be more enjoyable if they only needed to push a single button to enjoy their favourite feature film,” said the company.
