Droid Ice Creams are going quick, if figures revealed today are anything to go by.
2.9 % of all Android devices now run on Google’s latest 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, since its launch in December on Samsung Galaxy Nexus –  according to developer stats.

This is more than double the numbers of take ups in the space of just a month – February’s figure stood at 1.12%.

The majority of devices running Android 4.0 are using later version 4.0.3 (2.4%) with the rest (0.5%) using earlier versions.

The Nexus was the first phone to boast 4.0 which is currently being rolled out across Asus, HTC, Moto and other branded devices.

Rollout of 4.0 is slow; however, HTC launched the One X in Oz yesterday which is the only other smartphone to run ‘Droid’s newest OS.

Android 4.0 represents a hybrid platform that can be used across tabs and phones, promising a far better user experience.
