Samsung Galaxy S3 Coming In April, Quad-Core 12MP & More

It’s been a busy morning with the rumour mill churning plenty of intriguing possibilities, but none more so than what we’ve learnt about Samsung’s next flagship: the Galaxy SIII.

Forget the foreplay where I dribble on about trivial details, here’s what you need to know. Word has it the Samsung Galaxy SIII will be powered by a 1.4 or 1.5 GHz QUAD-core processor (yep, four cores warrants capitals). They’ll be working very fast to memorialise its 12MP photos, which will then be displayed on a HD (720 x 1,280) screen. The icing on this tantalising cake is the software, which will be Ice Cream Sandwich right out of the box.

These specs are courtesy of Eldar Murtazin who claims he’s spent time with the phone. Although his success rate as of late hasn’t been too impressive, all of these specs fall in line with Samsung’s character. A quick glance at their Galaxy Nexus showcases a HD screen, while a 12MP camera is just a natural progression from 8MP.

It’s also worth noting that Samsung jumped from a single 1GHz core to a 1.2GHz dual core processor between the Galaxy and its successor, the Galaxy SII.

Now with Murtazin claiming the release date will be sometime in April, which is a whole year following the launch of the SII, its plausible to think Samsung would make the same audacious move and throw a quad core in the SIII.

Murtazin failed to clarify which countries will get to fondle the SIII in April, but odds are the US will get their lucky hands on it first, with a global rollout following thereafter.
