According to the company, the application will be free for all Galaxy Tab users, with additional premium features and services available for purchase. The navigation app includes 2D and 3D view, turn-by-turn voice guidance, address search, as well as Google Local Search function.

Navigon’s Vice-President, Worldwide Mobile Phone Business, Gerhard Mayr said, “Australian’s have a thirst for navigation, as evident in the strong PND sector, and this extends to mobile devices. We are therefore proud to partner with Samsung to provide GALAXY Tab users with a breakthrough navigation solution. Its portable size and great performance makes this device an ideal platform for our first dedicated tablet navigation software on the Australian market.”

Samsung Australia’s Vice President, Telecommunications, Tyler McGee said that it is excited to bring this app for free.

“We’re incredibly excited to be partnering with NAVIGON to offer customers who purchase Samsung’s Galaxy Tab free premium turn by turn navigation. Our research shows that around 64 per cent who intend to purchase a tablet intend to use navigation applications.”

“We believe the size of the Samsung Galaxy will be key in satisfying this consumer need,” added McGee.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab will be available before Christmas for $999.
