Navteq has agreed to supply map data and content to Samsung, allowing the Korean company to have access to all 76 countries in the Navteq map database.

Samsung’s Vice President of Research and Development Planning and Partnership, Wonsik Lee said, “By providing end users with intuitive, unrivaled mobile experience based on state-of-the-art technology, Samsung has remained as one of the leaders in mobile industry. This agreement with NAVTEQ will enable us to continually provide users with the most powerful mobile experience possible.”
Navteq says that the GPS-enabled Samsung I8910 HD will offer enhanced visual content such as 3D landmarks and 3D city models, speed limits, and extended lanes. In addition, urban travellers will be able to take full advantage of their surroundings and help them get from place to place with a variety of routing options.
Furthermore, the Omnia HD is incorporated with a social networking functionality which utilises NAVTEQ map data and content that allows a user to find their friends online and determine the quickest way to route or walk to them.
