Samsung Kicks Apple When They’re Down

Samsung has not let Apple’s mapping fiasco go unnoticed.Last week, Australian Police warned Apple’s Maps could leave drivers in ‘life-threatening’ situations after the software situated Mildura, a Victorian town with a population of 30,000 people, in Murray-Sunset National Park, where there is no access to water and temperatures reach as high as 46 degrees.

Looking to capitalise on Apple’s mapping fiasco, Samsung has parked a wayward, mud-ridden camping 4WD in the middle of Sydney’s Australian Square, alongside a sign that reads:

“Oops, should have got a Samsung Galaxy SIII. Get navigation you can trust.”

In addition to its muddy underside, the Nissan Patrol 4WD had a tent wrapped around its wheel and camping gear scattered across its roof racks, clearly appearing to be out of place.

A second off-route car was parked in Melbourne’s Southern Cross Station. The VW Combi van was carrying stacks of surfboards on its roof and it was also joined by the same pro-Galaxy S3 sign.

Your Destination

In September, Apple boldly ditched Google’s refined mapping software for its own Maps application. Between its warped graphics and inaccurate directions, the application was received with harsh criticism and an understanding Apple’s feud with Google was prioritised ahead of the user experience.

Last week Google finally released a dedicated Google Maps application for Apple’s iPhone users. Within 7 hours, the app was the top free app on Apple’s App Store, and by the 48 hour mark, it had been downloaded more than 10,000,000 times.

Correction: Earlier we mistook the Nissan as a Toyota
