As of Monday, Samsung has announced 5 million Galaxy Note IIs have been sold in less than 3 months. It took the original Note more than twice as long to reach the same milestone.
Samsung will tell you Size Matters |
Samsung’s Galaxy S3 might hog the limelight, but its Samsung’s Note series distinguishing them from the pack. When Samsung’s original Note was launched, it pioneered the phablet (phone-meets-tablet) category by breaching screen sizes ordinarily too large for smartphones, and yet halting just before it enters tablet territory. Following its launch, companies like HTC and LG began experimenting with similar sized smartphones.
Samsung didn’t just inspire a category; they resurrected the long-dead stylus. Up until the Note, the Stylus was considered an obstacle preventing users from an immersive experience because it interrupted your fingers and the screen. Samsung’s implementation of the stylus reminded customers it is in fact an extension of your hand. It’s intelligent, differentiating between pressure sensitivities and replicating the texture of the traditional pen.
The second generation Note will do the original proud with its 1.6GHz quad core processor, 2GB of RAM, up to 64GB of internal memory and a 5.5 inch HD screen. It’ll have a 1.3MP front facing camera and an 8MP rear camera capable of Full HD recording. Throw in a 3,100mAh battery and you end up with a device more reminiscent of a tablet than a smartphone.
