Chin up: Although Samsung might be honing their Galaxy S3 a little longer, word has it they’ll be announcing a much more powerful tablet successor at the Mobile World Congress. The tablet is rumoured to be an 11.6 inch Galaxy variant with enough tech goodies to make you giggle.
CNET is claiming the Galaxy Tab will have a 2GHz dual core processor, and BGR report the tablet’s 11.6 inch screen will have a 2,560 x 1,600 pixel resolution, which is a higher pixel count than a Full HD TV.
It’s also enough to give it one of the highest pixel densities on a tablet at 260~ ppi according to Smarthouse’s maths. By comparison, Apple’s current iPad 2 has 132~ppi.
The new Galaxy Tab won’t be much bigger than the current 10.1, compliments to a thinner bezel and a 16:10 aspect ratio.
One of the most intriguing titbits is the operating system. Unlike the 10.1 which is upgradable to Ice Cream Sandwich, the Galaxy Tab 11.6 will come with it straight out of the box. Word also has it that Samsung’s S-Pen technology, which is the stylus equipped with the Samsung Galaxy Note, will be compatible with it too.
