Sega is once again releasing games for all the latest consoles including Xbox 360, PS3, Nintendo DS and Wii, PSP and PC, and has a brand new headquarters in Sydney which will distribute games like Sonic Rush Adventure, Sega Rally and Virtual Fighter 5 to fans across the country.
The first two games – Sega Rally and Sonic Rush Adventure – will hit stores on 27 September this year and will retail from between $69.95 and $99.95 depending on the platform.
Sega hasn’t released many more details yet to the Australian press, however according to a notice distributed to delegates in the US and Europe, production of the Nintendo DS version of Sonic Rush Adventure has been in motion since April.
The game will “seamlessly utilise both screens of the Nintendo DS to navigate the high seas in search of pirate treasure, delivering Sonic’s classic high-speed 2D gameplay in the ultimate Sonic handheld experience,” said the notice.
The Nintendo DS version will also make full use of the DS Download Play feature and Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, enabling gamers to compete with friends in wireless racing and mission-based battles.
Arcade frequenters’ favourite, Sega Rally, will be available for the PS3, XB360, PC and PSP.
“The introduction of SEGA Rally to the arcades in 1995 had the single biggest impact on the racing genre. Subsequent console rally games concentrated on a realistic simulation of the sport, but their popularity, reflected in sales, steadily dropped over the last decade,” said the notice.
Sega is now hoping to re-invigorate the genre in the home with bumper to bumper rally racing, competitions and fully-deformable environments.
