Sennheiser Adds Momentum To In-Ear Headphones

Sennheiser’s Momentum range of premium headphones has gained a new model, the new Momentum In-Ear headphones crafted from the highest-quality materials delivering acclaimed sound performance in the smallest, most compact form and they’re shipping for $169 from early to mid December 2014.

IFA 2014 wasn’t just about smartphones, home automation and chat-friendly LG washing machines but also the latest in sound gear, with Sennheiser wanting to add new momentum to its Momentum range.
Sennheiser says its Momentum range is inspired by people who follow their visions without compromises, who “take things further and push the world ahead”.
The Company believes this type of person demands “uncompromising sound quality, progressive technology and high-quality materials in a product that is built to last”.
Charles Ma, Sennheiser’s Consumer Electronics product manager said: “Answering the needs of those who refuse to make compromises, the MOMENTUM headphone series represents the ultimate fusion of style and substance. We are now excited to announce a new member of the family, the Momentum In-Ear, which brings the same level of passion and innovation to ear-canal phones, delivering the ultimate portable Momentum experience.”

Pointing to the already iconic, elegant design language of the existing Momentum range, Sennheiser says “form follows function with the choice of materials and design of the new headphones, with “eye-catching good looks that set it apart” on the outside, from the “premium stainless steel components to the mirror chrome detailing and the silhouette of the dual-tone elliptical cable which ensures a tangle-free listening experience.”

But it’s not just externals looks but what’s inside, with the ear-canal phones featuring “class-leading proprietary transducer technology newly developed by Sennheiser which carefully replicates the sound signature that characterises the Momemtum range: a powerful bass response, detailed vocal projection and a great sound stage”.
There’s also a custom-machined stainless steel acoustic pipe and high-quality dynamic speaker system to support the Momentum In-Ear’s “accurate and powerful sound”, which the Company says means “a perfect fit in the ear canals is ensured through a set of ear adapters in several sizes that provide excellent attenuation from ambient noise.”
Additional material details ensue as we’re told Sennheiser uses “tough impact-resistant polycarbonate and stainless steel for the Momentum In-Ear” as has developed “very durable ear-canal phones – ensuring that the ultra-portable design can go anywhere and is also robust enough to take the demands of a life on the move.”
As you’d expect, there’s a three-button in-line remote with an integrated mic for controlling music and taking calls.
Arriving in Australia from early-to-mid December, it will be available in two variants that are optimised for either Apple iOS or Android and Windows smart devices such as Samsung Galaxy models.
A premium carrying case is also included for safe storage as is a 2-year warranty.
Sennheiser also has the existing Momentum On-Ear range, also made with premium materials and available in red, blue, green, pink, brown, black and ivory.
The Company points to a range of artists with its Momentum gear, pointing to “legendary human beatbox EKLIPS, sound artists Nik Novak and DiMainstone and Imogen Heap, pioneer in innovative music” being Momentum customers, and says that in “working with unique people like these, Sennheiser, together with Spotify, tells the stories of inspirational people” by “following a hugely diverse range of 100 people who have a passion and connection to sound, to learn more about their lives and own personal Momentum”.

Sennheiser’s Momentum In-Ear will retail for $169 from December.
