The Simpsons and Family Guy were the two most popular TV shows for the first week of summer, followed by crime-o-vision favourites NCIS and Midsomer Murders.
ASTRA ratings for the week December showed that Australia most frequently tuned into subscription TV for its viewing. STV accounted for 24 per cent of all metropolitan viewing between 6 am and midnight, 21.9 per cent of all regional viewing and 61.3 per cent of all viewing in subscription TV homes.
It was followed by Channel 9 at 21.6 per cent, Channel 7 at 20.5 per cent and Channel Ten at 14.4 per cent.

- The Contender Australia, FOX8 (95,000 viewers)
- New Zealand’s Next Top Model, FOX8 (93,000 viewers)
- Kung Fu Panda, Family Movie Channel (88,000 viewers)
- Futurama, FOX8 (86,000 viewers)
