Aspiring film-makers can brush up on their technique by checking out Sony’s video podcast and online stream of Roughcut 2006.
Roughcut 2006 is a filmmaking seminar that offers hints and tips for putting together a winning film in time for Tropfest.
A number of masterclass sessions from Roughcut are available for downloading or streaming including: Cinematography, from Piet de Vries, Editing from John Colette, Sound from James Nowiczewski, Script development from Billy Marshall Stoneking. There is also a podcast of last year’s Tropfest winners Rob Carlton and Alex Weinress talking about their experience.
Sony Tropfest Festival Director John Polson said, “Sony Tropfest is all about the strength of an idea, not big budgets, and Roughcut is a great initiative to help up and coming filmmakers explore an idea and get a headstart on the competition. Being able to reference the knowledge presented at Roughcut online is the perfect platform for entrants to learn from and improve the quality of their short film.”
