Sony has launched its first complete range of entertainment products designed for the marine market. Sony Australia’s Product Manager for Car and Boat Entertainment, Nick Wilson said, “Sony’s entry into the marine market comes on the back of continued growth of boat sales in Australia. As a major play in the in-car entertainment sector for many years, we are now applying our experience and expertise to the marine market. For the first time, we are introducing a complete solution that is flexible enough for boats of all shapes and sizes.”
According to Nick, it is quite important to choose marine audio wisely as water, salt, UV rays, plus shock and vibration of the waves may cause damage to the products over time. And the only way for one to get the best audio performance on board is to use dedicated marine products that are designed to handle the harsh conditions at sea.
Sony claims that their new range of durable marine audio equipment is perfect for hosting on-deck parties or listening to symphonies while sailing around the sea.

The CDX-HS70MW Marine Stereo has been developed to handle the sea with its UV resistant paint and special circuit board coating. It can be mounted at an angle of up to 45 degrees, is splash-proof, and includes a tuner, CD Deck, Auxiliary-in, and easy to use sound control.

Sony’s new XM-604M 4/3 channel marine amplifier with 600W maximum output will definitely rock the boat, while its XS-MP1610W Dual Cone Speakers will deliver up to 140W peak power. Moreover, the XS-MP1620W 2-way coaxial speakers will provide users of up to 160W of power and promises to create that sound seafarers are looking for.

Party animals should also check out the rugged XS-L100P5M ten inch subwoofer that sports an incredible 800W of power with a unique P5 cone design offering superior rigidity. According to Sony, this subwoofer employs a unique design so that it takes up much less space than a conventional subwoofer as a result of not having to be installed in an enclosure.

If that’s not enough, the waterproof RM-X55M remote offers simple control of the stereo and can be stowed away from the damaging elements. Finally, the GMD-616 waterproof stereo cover sports an ultra reliable Oring seal, providing protection for the head unit. It includes a front mask opening for easy operation and injection moulded polycarbonate frame for excellent durability.
