Sony is gearing up to introduce its new motion controller at this year’s Game Developers Conference in March.
Sony announced last month that the device’s launch, originally set to be in Q2 of this year, will be delayed by about six months.
Organisers at the GDC have now confirmed that the controller, nicknamed the ‘Arc’, is going to be unveiled at a talk delivered by SCEA developers David Coombes and Kirk Bender of Thursday, 11 March from 3-4PM.
The session description on the GDC website reads, “The soon to be released Motion Controller for PlayStation 3 will allow developers to create new game play experiences, by allowing players to interact with their console in high definition using their bodies. The Motion Controller uses 3D position and orientation tracking, camera input and a controllable RGB LED to bridge the gap between camera, motion and traditional interfaces.”
The delayed ‘Arc’ is now set to face heavy competition from Microsoft, which also aims to launch its motion controller in Q4 2010.
