The new NWZ-B130F series will be available in 1GB and 2GB capacities and will only cost $49 and $69 respectively. On the other hand, Apple’s iPod Shuffle currently costs $69 for the 1GB and $89 for its 2GB model.

According to Sony, the NWZ-B130F comes in four different colours, will have features such as voice and FM recording, FM tuning, as well as MP3 and DRM-protected music playback. The unit also comes with a “Bass” button that enhances the bass elements of the music played by 100Hz.

This new Walkman will last up to 16 hours of continuous music playback and has a Rapid Recharge function that provides 90 minutes of music playback with a three minute charge.

Sony Australia’s Personal Audio Product Manager, Suzanna Gan said, “The new NWZ-B130F series are a convenient, easy to use range of highly portable MP3 players that combine great battery life with the very best sound quality that sets Sony’s Walkman products apart from the market. Rapid recharge, simple Drag ‘n Drop music transfer, one touch bass enhancer and PlaysForSure compatibility are just some of the features that make this range a highly competitive offering at the entry level of the MP3 player market.”

The NWZ-B130F features a direct USB connection and Drag ‘n Drop interface for easy uploading/downloading and playback of audio content. The range is also PlaysForSure compatible, allowing DRM-protected music purchased through online music vendors to be played on the device. In addition, the new Walkman B series allows direct music recording and playback on supported audio systems, removing the need to connect to a computer in order to transfer audio content.

The NWZ-B130F series comes in four eye-catching colours; Black, Red, Pink (2GB only) and Blue (2GB only), and comes with a range of accessories which include a flexible silicon case to protect your player from scratches and an arm band holder for running.

Pricing and Availability

The Sony Walksman B-series will be available mid-August and will have an RRP of $49 for the 1GB model (Black and Red) and $69 for the 2GB model (Black, Red, Pink, Blue).
