In an effort to boost sales this Christmas, Sony Australia has slashed $200 off the pricing for its PSPGo. From Monday, this handheld device will now sell for $249.95.

As previously reported by Smarthouse (see story here), Sony is planning to cut the price of its PSP as much as 37 per cent worldwide. However, Australia seems to have gotten almost 45 per cent off the price.
A major games vendor told SmartHouse that since its launch, PSPGo sales were not selling as well as Nintendo’s DSi due to its steep pricing. However, this price cut is definitely welcome as it may entice people to purchase the handheld this Christmas.
The Playstation PSPGo comes with 16GB flash memory to store games downloaded from the Playstation Store but cannot play UMD discs, forcing previous Playstation PSP owners to either settle for an older model or go all digital.
To sweeten the deal, Sony Australia will also offer ten free games for download for new PSPGo owners.
The games include:
· Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines
· Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories
· Gran Turismo
· James Cameron’s AVATAR: The Game
· LittleBigPlanet
· MotorStorm: Arctic Edge
· Need For Speed: SHIFT
· Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice
· 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa; and
· Wipeout Pure
The ten free games offer ends on 31 January 2010 and is available to users who have not used the PSPGo to create or log into a PSN account before 1 April 2010.
“To get your ten free games, connect your new PSPgo to PlayStation Network and download the PSPgo theme from PlayStation Store. You’ll then receive a PlayStation Network voucher code via email so you can start downloading your ten free games,” said the company.
