Sub $1,300 60″ Ultra High Definition 4K TV Set To Be Launched In OZ

EXCLUSIVE: Seiki Digital is set to move into the Australian market with a 50″ Ultra High Definition 4K TV that will sell for sub $1,300.

The Company who has already launched in the USA is believed to be looking for offices in Australia. The Company’s TVs are already sold at Sears, Amazon and K-Mart in the USA as well as widely across Asia.

ChannelNews has been told that the mystery company has already spoken to online retailers in Australia about selling their Ultra High Definition TV’s into the Australian market.

They claim to own their own factories in Asia and because they manufacture “sheer volume” they can keep their prices down.

A statement by the company claims “Our TVs are made in our own facility by our own people. Not only does this cut out a costly middleman, it also allows us to maintain a high level of quality control that meets our strict standards.

SmartHouse is suspicious of this Company as their contact details have been described as “very sketchy”.

One website in the USA is already selling the Seiki Digital branded Ultra High Definition TV for $1,299.

The Tiger Direct website claims it has stock of the 3840 x 2160 resolution LED TV which runs at 120 Hertz and has a contrast ratio of 5000:1, as well as 3 HDMI outputs.

When SmartHouse contacted the Company regarding the Australian market we were told that they would get back to us shortly.

Recently, Chinese Company Changhong confirmed to SmartHouse that they will launch a 55″ 4K Ultra High Definition TV into the Australian market for sub $5,000.

Earlier today the Chinese Company confirmed that the new TVs launched in Australia will incorporate new Smart TV capabilities powered by Rovi Corporation technology.

Rovi who collects license fees from most Australian TV companies as well as Foxtel has licensed their DivX video solutions technology to Changhong who plans to add DivX Plus HD Certification into their Australian TVs.

This technology supports fast DivX Plus Streaming.

“DivX solutions are an ideal complement to the cutting-edge feature set of our DTVs and Smart TV ranges,” said Yu Wenjun, Overseas Marketing Director, Changhong. “DivX Certification ensures our televisions support video playback of the highest possible quality along with a range of online entertainment services that add value out of the box and increase consumer satisfaction.”

Rovi recently secured licensing agreements with the top five DTV brands in China.

DivX Plus HD Certified devices enable the high quality playback of personal, user-generated and protected premium content in the DivX video format in video resolutions up to 1080p.
