Sub $300 7-inch Android Touch Tablet To Be Launched Next Week By Telstra

Telstra is set to launch its new Android-based handheld tablet, dubbed the Telstra T-Touch Tab, next Wednesday. Media have been invited to a preview – under embargo – on Tuesday at Telstra’s “Experience Centre” in central Sydney.

Previously leaked details have suggested the device is a rebadged version of Huawei’s SmaKit S7 tablet. The big news is that the 7″ device will be sub $300 which makes the Samsung Galaxy Tab offering a tad expensive.
The telco’s invitation says the T-Touch Tab will “bring together online content and access to thousands of apps on Australia’s largest and fastest national mobile broadband network”. The device will only be available via Telstra T stores.
It joins two other gadgets in Telstra’s consumer armory: the T-Hub touchscreen phone-cum-Internet device and the $299 T-Box set-top box.
The T-Touch Tab will be available exclusively on Telstra’s Next G network. It will feature a 7-inch touchscreen, support Adobe Flash (unlike Apple’s iPad) and run an unspecified version of the Android operating system.
