Telstra To Jack Up Prices

Telstra has quietly flagged a coming increase in pricing on many fixed-line phone plans.

While there’s been no official announcement, Telstra’s fixed voice director Jennifer Douglas has let the cat out of the bag in a company blog. She stresses the changes won’t take effect until October1.

From that date customers on a Telstra Home Phone Budget plan will pay $1 more each month. Some other home phone plans will increase by $2 a month, Douglas says.

The call connection fee on selected home and business phone plans and bundles will increase from 49 or 50 cents to 55c for timed national calls to fixed lines, calls to standard Australian mobiles and international calls.

And the rate for calls to 13 numbers will increase from 35c to 40c per call.

There will also be increases to monthly access charges on a number of BusinessLine PSTN and ISDN plans and changes to call charges and calling feature charges. The majority of PSTN BusinessLine plans are increasing by $2 per month, Douglas says.
