Telstra Use Presto On T Box To Take On Netflix

Telstra who along with Foxtel are facing stiff new competition from Netflix has cranked up their T Box offer with consumers now offered Presto On T Box as an additional means to stream content to their Telstra set top box.

They have also thrown in the award winning comedy Modern Family as one of the shows on offer.

The six month Presto offer is available for all new and existing T-Box customers, who will be able to access their subscription video on demand service directly from the T-Box’s main menu.

Content will be unmetered, meaning viewers can watch movies and TV shows without it affecting their monthly data allowance.

Telstra Director Pay TV and IPTV Eric Kearley said the launch of Presto on T-Box would give hundreds of thousands of T-Box owners the opportunity to enjoy Presto on the main screen in the home.

In a direct dig at Netflix who has not announced their line-up of content for Australia as well as the Nine Entertainment Stan service Kearley said “We think Presto has the strongest range of TV and movies compared to its subscription video on demand competitors”.

He added “Presto on T-Box customers will be able to view full seasons of one of the best shows on TV in Modern Family, and with unmetered access, there’s no concerns about going over your data cap.”

“We’re thrilled to be able to offer our T-Box customers a bonus 6-month subscription when they sign up for Presto. It’s as easy as visiting channel 911 on your T-Box and following the steps to redeem the offer.”

Kearley said Presto’s range of TV shows and movies, led by exclusive 20th Century Fox (Modern Family, Homeland, Sons of Anarchy), Showtime (Ray Donovan) and HBO (The Newsroom, Girls)content was a step above the competition.

“We believe Presto’s TV and movie library is stronger than any of the subscription video on demand competitors in the Australian market.”

The Presto on T-Box 6-month bonus subscription offer is open to all new and existing T-Box customers who activate their Presto subscription by 11:59pm AEST on 30 June 2015. After 6 months, ongoing monthly subscription fees for the Presto Entertainment package apply unless customers cancel earlier.

An internet connection with minimum speed of 3Mbps is required to view Presto.

The Presto service is currently available to subscribers across a range of subscription options, determined by their entertainment needs – customers can choose Presto TV or Presto Movies as standalone subscriptions for $9.99 per month or bundle both services with a Presto Entertainment subscription for $14.99 per month.
