Tesla Recalls Star Model

Shares in electric carmaker Tesla have fallen after the company announced it is recalling all 90,000 of its star model Model S cars – presumably including the pride and joy of Australian technology entrepreneur and NBN director Simon Hackett.

“Tesla recently found a Model S in Europe with a front seat belt that was not properly connected to the outboard lap pretension,” the company said in an e-mail to customers. “This vehicle was not involved in a crash and there were no injuries.

“However, in the event of a crash, a seat belt in this condition would not provide full protection.”

Tesla shares promptly slid 1.9 percent to $217.

The Palo Alto, California-based company said it has found no other issues, but wants owners to bring their cars in to make sure the seat belts are properly connected.
