This Is NO Optimus: LG “G2” Full HD + Quad Core?

This is no Optimus: LG’s next superphone will be known as G2- and will be hitting OZ.

LG Australia have confirmed what we’ve known for over a week – that LG’s next flagship smartie will be called ‘G2’ – dropping the Optimus nametag used by its predecessor the 4.7″ quad-core Optimus G “superphone”, released here in March.

However, no further info was given on the high end smartie with LG saying more details will be forthcoming at the global launch in early August, but claims G2 will position the rising phone brand as “as a true technology innovator in the mobile category.”
However, the newbie Android is rumored to have a bigger 5.2” Full HD screen, a massive 3GB of RAM, 13-megapixel camera, quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor running at 2.3GHz.
LG Mobile CEO Jong-seok Park promises “the new G2 will build upon the excellent reputation established by previous ‘G Series’ products.”
“Our vision is to make LG’s newest ‘G’ devices synonymous with excellence, raising the bar even further for the ultimate in user experience.”
LG Australia also confirmed in a statement this week it is currently in discussions with local operators to supply G2, locally.

Currently, the premium Optimus G is sold by Telstra only, although at launch earlier this year LG said other telco’s would be offering the premium phone, although this failed to materialize.

As its device portfolio build momentum at the premium end, LG said it the “right time” to clearly position the premium end with a differentiated naming approach.
LG L-Series and F-Series devices will continue to use the ‘Optimus’ name.
