Toshiba is set to reveal a 55″ Super High Resolution 3D TV without the need to wear a pair of glasses, but before you going running out to JB Hi Fi the price is set to be over $11,000 and it is coming to Australia.
Set to be launched in the UK tonight, SmartHouse first saw this TV 18 months ago. When one stood right in front of the display screen a version of 3D was delivered without the need for glasses, but when you were at an angle the 3D effect was lost.
Since then Toshiba has worked on the processor that is used to deliver the 3D effect, they have also developed their new 4K display technology which is built into the new Toshiba ZL2 TV.
According to Rob Wilkinson General Manager at Toshiba Australia the new TV will be launched in Australia shortly.

4K was first shown at the CES Show in January, the new resolution technology is supposed to supersede 1080p (1,920×1,080 pixels) and when released by brands like Samsung and LG who are tipped to launch 4K TVs later this year in Australia, it will be the highest-resolution signal available for movies and TV programs.
The only problem is that very few content creators have committed to delivering 4K content which are 4,000 pixels wide and 2,000 pixels high.
The Toshiba ZL2 is capable of 4K resolution, which is four times the resolution of current hi-def. screens. Besides the 4K resolution, the TV uses ‘face tracking’ to adjust the picture to each person watching the screen. At the CES show Toshiba engineers told me that their new screen directs different images to your left and right eyes which cause the illusion of 3D.
