Toshiba has updated its Satellite and Qosmio range of consumer notebooks to include the Microsoft Windows Vista operating system, Kedron n wireless and a built-in Web camera.
The notebooks have also had a design refresh, with a new glossy finish, larger branding and blue lights. The chassis has been re-sized to accommodate the widescreen, but it is shorter in length, Toshiba says.
Toshiba’s Satellite series, which spans entry-level desktop replacements to high-end gaming machines, now consists of the A200 (previously A100) and P200 (previously P100). The new range includes models that feature a 1.3MP built-in webcam, as well as the latest Intel 802.11n wireless standard, Kedron n wireless.
The Qosmio AV notebook series features new additions G30 and F30. the Qosmio G30 is the world’s first notebook to offer a HD DVD-R drive for recording data on HD DVD media, Toshiba claims. This allows you to play and burn HD DVDs similar to playing or burning a standard DVD or CD. The Qosmio F30 remains unchanged.
“As more and more Australians discover the benefits of notebook computing, we expect notebook PCs to form over half of the Australian personal computer market by 2008,” said Toshiba’s Justin White.
The updated notebooks come pre-loaded with Windows Vista Home or Vista Home Premium.
