Travroute, which previously specialized in Windows Mobile based navigation software, is now launching its own personal navigation device – targeted at the budget end of the market.
The device features the standard spoken distance and direction to turn, giving you real-time directions, 3D as well as 2D, and a written itinerary, so you can see your route in advance. You can also select the fastest o shortest route, avoid construction or road tolls by programming your preferred route. It will also alert you to any fixed speed cameras, and features a walking mode as well as driving mode, the company says.
The mapping data is provided by NAVTEQ, which has claimed to have covered 99.7% of populated Australian highways, roads, and addresses.
Despite big players, such as Pioneer also recently entering the navigation market, Travroute’s Managing Director Boyd Dainton feels with the new device “priced aggressively at $449 RRP-Travroute is well positioned to enter the category.”
“With the Australian market reflecting the European trend towards personal navigation devices, we feel Travroute needs a presence. With premium features and at such a low price point, we are confident the new device will perform very well,” he said.
RRP: $449
