Uber Banks On Westpac Deal

Some Westpac customers will receive discounted Uber rides and the bank’s employees will be encouraged to use the ride-sharing service for business travel, according to an Australian IT report. The report quoted an unnamed Uber spokesman saying up
to 100,000 Westpac customers will score the opportunity to save $25 off their
first ride with Uber, in what would be the first of further offers and
services. And it quoted Westpac as saying it would also enable its employees to
ride-share for business travel.

The Oz claimed on Friday deal would be announced that day, but Friday seems to
have passed without any such announcement. Today perhaps .

The news follows an earlier Uber deal with Optus that will reportedly see
in-car Wi-Fi deployed in 100 UberX vehicles across Melbourne and Sydney. Uber
says it has 30,000 drivers and 1.5 million riders in Australia. The service is
now legal in NSW, Victoria, Canberra and SA, but not in other states or
territories.
