Just when you are getting use to HD TV a brand new TV technology is set to burst forth called Ultra HD that delivers a TV picture at up to 16 times the resolution of 1080p.
Expected in Australia within five years Ultra HD TV (ULD) delivers a resolution at 3,840 x 2,160 pixels. Current HD resolution is 1,920 x 1,080.
Research group In-Stat says it won’t hit the mainstream market, for some time but will be used in professional environments and in overseas markets.
In-Stat said that broadcasters like Channel Seven and Nine will start offering UHD content to an available market between 2017 and 2022. By 2021, 5% of households in Europe will be equipped to view UHDTVs, up to 28.2% by 2025. Not surprisingly, Japan will be among the early adopters of the technology.
