Called Rent-A-Map, this service allows a user to gain access to international maps without having to purchase them outright. Uniden says that the new iGo series come with a free download of Rent-A-Map from its GPS website www.naviextras.com.

Targeting holiday makers, the promotion allows customers to rent a map for one of more than 70 countries for a one-month period completely free of charge.

Starting at $159.95, the iGO series includes three models: iGo 50 (5″), iGo 43 (4.3″) and iGo 35 (3.5″). Each unit comes with a touch-screen display, is no thicker than an iPhone, 3D mapping technology, Junction View, Advanced Lane Guidance and Spoken Street Names.

The unit also comes with a ‘Green Routing’ tool that claims to calculate fuel consumption and carbon emissions across a number of route options. It is also capable of calculating the fastest, shortest or easiest route from the available options.

While the iGo Series was designed specifically for Australia and New Zealand, additional mapping for more than 70 countries and voice guidance in 43 languages can be downloaded from www.naviextras.com.

“Whether travelling for business or pleasure this summer, with the introduction of Rent-A-Map Australian travellers can find their way around a huge selection of international destinations, without spending more than necessary on mapping,” says Brad Hales, Senior National Marketing Executive, Uniden Australia.

The Uniden iGO series will be available from Mid October from leading electronics retailers and department stores.
