Yesterday, the troubled telco launched new prepaid deals giving customers “more value, flexibility and freedom than ever before.”

Vodafone All-time prepaid, available in two recharge options ($35, $55), replicates its Infinite contract plans with as much, calls, texting and social networking on Facebook, Twitter, FourSquare and LinkedIN as users desire.

However, there is one snag – the “infinite standard national voice calls” (i.e. non Vodafone or 3 numbers) are only available 7pm-7am and weekends so the deal is really only ‘infinite’ if all you are calling is fellow Vodafone or 3 users.

However, SMS are free to any number and there is flexible credit for services like international calls, PXT and more, and comes with 250MB data on $35 and 1GB data on the $55 option, all for use within Australia and expire after 30 days.

And for those not convinced, it is also sweetening the deal further by offering a bonus 10% off any recharge until the end of July.  However, this applies to in store purchases only.

Vodafone Hutchinson Australia, owners of both Voda and 3, has been besieged by widespread consumer discontent at its poor service have witnessed contract customers, in particular, fleeing its network in droves heading to rivals Optus and Telstra, who have witnessed huge growth in new customer sign ups for mobile plans.

However, the telco, who even inspired a website for disgruntled users called vodafail, did manage to add 94,000 on its prepaid mobile service according to its most recent set of results and is clearly looking to growth in this space.

“Our customers like being able to talk and TXT as much as they like at the times of the day that works best for them without worrying about their credit balance, so we’ve built two new offers that do just that”, said Anthony Dureau, General Manager of Consumer at Vodafone.

“Customers have the choice of two recharges- one is perfect for people who spend time in the evenings and weekends in touch with friends and family ,and the other is a match made in heaven for people that need the freedom to connect 24/7 – what’s more, the infinite benefits last the full 30 days,” he added.
