VWs Hacked Via Radio

Hackers can use a radio to unlock most of the 100 million Volkswagens sold since 1995, according to two research teams. They include models from VW’s other brands, Audi, SEAT and Skoda.Researchers from the
University of Birmingham and German security firm Kasper & Oswald carried
out two separate attacks on the vehicles.

One team found some models had used an old cryptographic code in the security
system; while the other found a malicious hacker could spy on key fob signals
with a homemade radio and clone digital keys.

Volkswagen says it is working with the researchers to solve the problem.
