We Know Sony Management Are Not The Brightest Guys On The Block But How Dumb Is This?

We know Sony management are not the brightest guys on the block, but after several successful hack attacks one would suspect that the last thing they would do is create a folder called “Passwords” on a server.

But this is exactly what hackers discovered when they hit Sony Picture servers.

According to the latest batch of leaked documents Sony Pictures management have been humiliated after it was revealed they saved thousands of passwords in a folder named, Passwords they included the studio’s social media accounts, internal computers and website accounts.

Now the North Korean Government is being blamed for the attack.

The passwords were not encrypted, or password protected and appear within 139 documents written in plain text.

Last week the social security numbers of 47,000 people who worked for Sony were revealed.

Those affected include Sylvester Stallone, director Judd Apatow and actress Rebel Wilson.

Home addresses, email addresses and pay details are also part of the leaks, with some records dating all the way back to the 50s.

North Korea has been identified as one suspect in the hacking attack, which has crippled the company’s computer systems, because of its fierce opposition to a coming Sony Pictures movie, “The Interview.” The film centres on a fictitious assassination plot against North Korean leader Kim Jong UN.

North Korean officials had described the film as an “act of war,” but has denied it is responsible for the Sony Pictures attack.

North Korea on Sunday denied a direct role in the recent hacking of Sony Pictures Entertainment, but said the attack may have been the work of its sympathizers.

In a statement attributed to an unnamed spokesman for North Korea’s National Defence Commission, a top policy-making body, the state news agency said South Korea had spread a “false rumour” that North Korea was involved in the hacking attack.
“We do not know where in America the Sony Pictures is situated and for what wrongdoings it became the target of the attack nor we feel the need to know about it,” the statement said.

However, it said the attack may have been “a righteous deed of the supporters and sympathizers with the DPRK in response to its appeal.” DPRK is the abbreviation for North Korea’s formal name, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

South Korea believes a few thousand hackers operate on behalf of North Korea, with some based in China. Elite students are trained in hacking techniques at schools in Pyongyang, according to defectors.
