Wave riders will be able to access information on, the best surf breaks and swell conditions, and beaches known for blow outs or choppy surfing conditions. Surfers will even be able to send information about the beach and surfing conditions to compatible GPS units and mobile phones.

The site also displays photos of some of the most popular beaches and can be viewed by simply by clicking the “beaches” button on the where.com site to have local beach conditions displayed on the map.

Surf Life Saving Australia Group General Manager, Michael Hornby, said partnering with Whereis means surfers can make informed choices based on useful information about Australian beaches and avoid unpredictable or hazardous surfing conditions.

“Whether you’re interested in a safer beach for a beginner or the best surfing breaks, you can now make an informed choice about which beach best suits your needs and even receive turn-by-turn directions on how to get there,” said Mr Hornby.
Beaches that appear on the Whereis website include Bondi, Bronte, Manly, Mooloolaba, Byron Bay, Kirra, Noosa, Surfers Paradise, Burleigh Heads, Torquay, Bells Beach and Yorke Peninsula.
