The Chinese ascend as giant Huawei has revealed the world fastest smartphone – the Ascend D quad- as it fights to be number one in the fastest mobile race.
Huawei’s 4.5″ quad-core smartphone is powered by the Chinese giant’s K3V2 potent quad-core 1.2GHz/1.5GHz processor. Announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona yesterday, the Ascend D Quad “expands the realm of possibilities” for users on Android 4.0.
And similar line to rival HTC touting its new quad core as a “entertainer”, Huawai’s 4.5″ smartie is an “entertainment dynamo”, it says, with its 4.5-inch 720P HD touchscreen, offering full high def video and the industry’s most powerful 32-bit true color graphic processor.
The multimedia centre also boasts excellent audio via Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound and Audience earSmart voice technology, 8 MP BSI rear cam, 1.3 megapixel front camera, and 1080p full HD video-capture and playback.
Its screen has a 330 pixel density and gives a “crystal clear display” even under direct sunlight, meaning it is ideal for working out under Australia’s sun glare. Huawei’s proprietary power management provides up to 30% power savings, so it won’t over guzzle juice.
The Ascend D quad comes with an 1800mAh battery, which lasts for one to two days with normal usage, its maker claims.
The Asend is also a skinny number measuring 64mm narrow and 8.9mm slim and is one of the most compact design among 4.5-inch smarties, Huawai claim. And with the slew of smartphone’s with quad core processors emerging, Huawai may not be able to keep the ‘fastest’ crown for very long.
Low cost Chinese brands ZTE (No. 4) and Huawei (No. 6) are rapidly climbing the global smartphone rankings – behind Samsung (No.2) and Apple (No.3) according to analysts Gartner and were the fastest-growing vendors in Q4 2011.
The quad release comes as rivals HTC and LG have both unveiled super fast quad core smarties at Barcelona meaning 2012 is shaping up to be “who’s the fastest” race with new quad cores replacing dual core processor technology, and means Apple’s next iPhone is almost certain to sport similarly high powered processor, possibly A6 chip.
And the Ascend D quad series will be available in Australia from April, as well as Asia-Pacific, Europe and US, although no word on pricing yet.
Huawei also introduced the Ascend D quad XL, which shares most specifications as the Ascend D quad,
and the Ascend D1, which runs on a 1.5 GHz dual-core CPU and has a 1670mAh battery.
