Xbox 360 Price Cut Confirmed

While we didn’t have the price cut that we wanted following Microsoft Xbox 360’s price drop in the US a few weeks back, Australians will be happy to know that the company is finally dropping its Xbox 360 prices by up to $70.

Microsoft is set to reduce the price of the Xbox 360 gaming console as it sets its eyes on becoming an affordable, next-generation console. The Xbox 360 Pro system will drop from $649 to $579.95, while its Core version will sell for $399.95, the same RRP as with Nintendo’s Wii.

Microsoft claims that with over 200,000 consoles and over one million games sold in Australia, the Xbox 360 console has proven itself as a leading platform for interactive home entertainment. This new price, Microsoft believes, means that there has never been a better time to jump in to Xbox 360.

Microsoft Australia and New Zealand’s Xbox Director, David McLean, said “Xbox 360 is all about offering consumers a choice – and I think we’ve just made that choice even easier. Today’s announcement shows Xbox 360 delivering on our commitment to make next-generation entertainment accessible to as many Australians as possible. Whether you want high definition movies and digital downloads, whether you want to join an online community of over 7 million people, or whether you just want to jump straight into a game and have fun.”

In addition to this, Microsoft says that the Xbox 360 console is the only place this year consumers will be able to play all of the following much-anticipated blockbusters like “Halo 3”, “Call of Duty 4”, “Rock Band”, “Assassin’s Creed”, and “Guitar Hero III: Rock Legends”.

RRP:

Xbox 360 Core Console: Includes the Xbox 360 Core console, Xbox 360 Controller and Composite AV cable.
RRP: $399.95

Xbox 360 Pro System: Includes the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system, 20GB Hard Drive, Wireless Controller, Media Remote, Component HD AV cable, an Ethernet Connectivity Cable and a complimentary 30-day trial Xbox LIVE Gold membership.
RRP: $579.95
