Both Bush Australia and Myer have pulled out of offering extended warranties to consumers after questions warranty provider United Warranties, according to reports.
Bush Australia confirmed to SmartHouse they were having “some issues ” with United Warranties and have ditched the service and made a “transition” to a new provider called Teleplan, which already offers warranties for Lenovo Australia and New Zealand.
Bush also sells Grundig and iLuv brands which includes PVR set-top boxes, and audio products sold in Harvey Norman, Dick Smith and The Good Guys.
Bush confirmed they will be making a full press statement later today. But all warranties sold under the United banner will still be honoured, Bush Marketing Manager, Jim Parisis, told SmartHouse.
Based in Australia, United offers warranties on everything from microwaves to PC and AV equipment and has been in operation for 15 years, offering 1, 2 and 5 year plans outside manufacturers original warranty.
The Aussie owned company could not be contacted at the time of writing and calls to its NSW depot went unanswered.
Woolworths owners of Big W has just confirmed in a statement it is dropping United warranty service:
“We have suspended sales of United warranties at BIG W. Our first priority is to ensure all BIG W customers who have taken out warranties are protected.”
It is uncertain what the issues at United are but the company appears to have gone underground in recent weeks and neither Bush nor Woolworths were prepared to discuss the ‘issues’ it had experienced with the warranty company, which has offices in Melbourne and Sydney.
