Pentax who is struggling to get traction in the digital camera market has announced a new K30 DSLR days after showing off their “toy like” new mirrorless camera in Australia. The Japanese Company who recently launched their bulky new mirrorless camera, the K-01, in an effort to compete with new offerings from Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic and Samsung is now set to roll out a K-30 which the Company claims has features normally found in a high end digital camera.
Featuring a 16.2 million pixel CMOS sensor and a PRIME M image processor, which enables the K-30 to shoot full HD video at 30fps the new camera has a wide sensitivity range of between ISO 100 and ISO 12,800 (expandable up to ISO 25,600).
When Pentax showed their new K-01 at the recent Sydney Fashion Week several journalists including myself found the device bulky, big and a tad over designed.
Engadget described the new camera as feeling cheap and having a blatant toy-like appearance with its bright yellow facia.
