The company introduced the Acer Timeline Ultra, the follow-up Ultrabook to the company’s September debuted Aspire S3. It’s only 20 mm thin, will sport a two-spindle design and be powered by an Intel Core processor.
More interesting is the timeline features an on board DVD drive which will bode well with consumers, especially considering its battery will soldier-on for up to eight hours. This additive sees the portable category veer into the multimedia sphere, delivering more performance without as much compromise.
The timeline will make it to shop shelves by the first quarter in the States as 14 and 15 inch models.
The company also showcased its new S5 Ultrabook. With one Ultrabook largely resembling the next, most companies are using size and weight to separate theirs from the pack. The S5 will be 15 mm at its thickest point and weigh less than 3 pounds.
It dons a similar 13.3 inch screen as the current Acer Aspire S3, although it does benefit from a USB 3.0 port and a Thunderbolt connection.
Acer believes the S5 will make it to the state come second quarter, but did not mention when either Ultrabook will reach Aussie shores.
