Look out Apple, Android is a-growing. The Green Men have now recorded 10 billion app downloads on Android’s Marketplace and is enjoying stellar 1 million sales monthly.

The 10 bn milestone was reached last weekend, and is now growing at a rate of one billion app downloads per month.
This marks astounding growth in a short space for the Green Men, which recorded 640 million monthly downloads just in October.
The growth is “simply amazing,” Google declared today, and is pretty impressive for the operating system established just three years ago.
Apple’s App Store hit the 10 bn downloads mark in January last.
“We can’t wait to see where this accelerating growth takes us in 2012,” Gogole wrote on its blog.
Android is set to continue dominating application downloads, with 2016 analyst predictions indicating Droid downloads will exceed a whopping 6bn – wiping the floor with Apple’s predicted 3.4bn.
“The huge lead in downloads that Android will take on Apple is being driven by the growth of the platform as a result of its increasing popularity and progress into lower price points,” Ovum analyst, Nick Dillon, said recently.
And, it seems Google have caught the Christmas cheer and are flogging selected apps for a measly $0.10c for the next ten days.
“Starting today for the next 10 days, we’ll have a new set of awesome apps available each day for only 10 cents each,” it announced.
The apps that now cost small change include Asphalt 6 HD, Color & Draw for Kids, Endomondo Sports Tracker Pro, Fieldrunners HD, Great Little War Game, Minecraft, Paper Camera, Sketchbook Mobile, Soundhound Infinity and SwiftKey X.
