Apple Geniuses Hold The Key To Maps

Right now, Apple needs numbers for its Maps and it appears they’re recruiting some of their 40,000 store employees for the cause.

According to reports from MacRumours, Apple is rolling out an initiative that will see employees spend up to 40 hours per week collectively reporting mapping errors in their communities and offering recommendations. The claim was supported in a tweet made by ‘Apple retail store enthusiast’ Garry Allen:

Details on how Apple staff will identify and report erroneous mapping data are sparse, but it is believed corrections will be submitted through a dedicated Apple system.

Apple recently ditched Google’s refined mapping software and replaced it with own in house mapping software. Since, the public has vented their distaste as the maps have a twisted understanding of geography, streetscapes and a bad sense of direction.

In a rare move from Apple, (remember, this is the company that insisted customers were holding their iPhone 4 wrong,) the company’s CEO issued a public apology, saying he was “extremely sorry.”
