Apple Offers Cash For Bugs

Apple is offering rewards of up to US$200,000 to researchers who find critical security bugs in its products. It’s not a new ploy to iron out the bugs in the system with dozens of companies already offering payments to help uncover product flaws.But the iPhone maker is
offering some of the biggest bounties to date, ahead of the plan’s unveiling
this week at the Black Hat cyber security conference in Las Vegas.

Initially Apple will invite two dozen researchers to help identify
hard-to-uncover security bugs in five specific categories. The most lucrative
category offers rewards of up to $200,000 if applicants can find any bugs in
Apple’s “secure boot” firmware.
